This is the original cold brewing system. The carafe in this product is made of Polycarbonate instead of glass, and so is virtually indestructible while imparting no flavor at all to the coffee. The exclusive “tip’n’pour” flask is also a real plus.
If you want to reduce the natural acidity from your coffee, Filtron’s Cold Water Brewer is the system for you. It is ideal for people with sensitive stomachs. The best part of the system is the great coffee. It’s perfect for hot coffee, iced coffee and blended coffee drinks.
Here’s how to do it:
- Soak the filter pad in water before use. Store in plastic container with fresh water in your refrigerator after every use.
(plastic container and lid provided) - Place a soaked filter pad in recess in bottom of coffee bowl by arching center of filter and firmly pushing edges into recess. Note: properly placed filter will dome in center.
- Push/twist the rubber stopper up through the drain hole firmly from the bottom of the coffee bowl.
- Fill the coffee bowl with 3/4 to 1 pound of coarsely ground coffee.
- Place Grounds Guard on the top of coffee grounds.
- Place water bowl onto coffee bowl.
- Add 48-56 oz.of cold, fresh water. Leave at room temperature to steep for 9 to 12 hours.
Note: If using our paper coffee filters with your Filtron unit, follow the instructions for placing the filter pad in bowl, put in the plug, then place one paper filter in coffee bowl, add coffee and place grounds guard on top of filter flutes. - Place the coffee bowl over the coffee decanter and remove stopper. Let the concentrate slowly filter into the decanter.
- Store in your refrigerator up to six weeks, or transfer to a freezer-proof container and freeze.
The Filtron coffee essence can be stored at room temp for up to five weeks making it perfect for outdoor activities, like camping. - To prepare hot or iced coffee, add approx. 1 ounce of concentrate for every 4-6 ounces of hot, or iced water. Serve immediately
